Case Study - Mount Owen Mine
Question....does Apex Plied Rubber Conveyor Belt, deserve to be the Industry Leader
From the results that we achieve in the field as opposed to just promising to buyers, we can see no other answer but YES. Fenner Dunlop Conveyor Belting has always maintained that buying the right belt as opposed to the initial cheapest belt, provides the most cost effective solution in the long term.
Detailed below is a Case study that allows us to actually prove this point as opposed to just talking about it. The Mount Owen Mine and CHPP in the Hunter Valley is an operation owned by Hunter Valley Coal Corporation and mined under contract by Thiess. Since 1st October 1996 Apex Ply Belt has been used on all conveyors and performance has been nothing short of exceptional. Not only have guaranteed tonnages been achieved but they have been well exceeded, in some cases by as much as 275%. For the site, that has obviously given them an operation that has not been plagued by costly conveyor downtime and unplanned expenditure.
For us as a manufacturer the results are particularly pleasing. We go an extremely long way to ensure that not only are we making belt to Australian Standards but also, in many cases, we are exceeding it. Our factory in West Footscray, Victoria has had over $5m dollars invested in it over the last 2 years. This has seen the relocation and establishment of a state of the art weaving facility, the introduction of a 6th wide rotocure to increase wide production capability and an upgrade in the inspection facilities. On-top of all that a new laboratory and testing facility has also been established to ensure that we have a world-class facility to test every roll of belt required.
Working closely with our customer base we aim to continually improve the products we produce and push for long term business relationships that bring mutually beneficial rewards.
